Students will be given an entry problem and and exit problem to solve using the technique taught and the ability to demonstrate that technique will indicate the student's level of understanding. No letter grade will be assigned, but if additional help is needed, I will reach out to the student individually.Grading

This class is intended for:
- Students struggling with Pre-Algebra (or basic mathematical reasoning)
- Students beginning a Pre-Algebra class and want inside help, techniques, or tips.
- Students who are curious how elementary math works in Pre-Algebra concepts.
How is the class structured:
This is course #4 of 4. Students will meet for 4 days in one week. Each day will be one 45-50 minute session. . There will be one or two interrelated concepts taught in each session. Each day of the course builds upon the previous day's activities, so please plan to attend all 4 days.
This class has lecture with examples, students work examples on the whiteboard, student creation of various problems, and student discussion about using a concept taught and using it to solve mathematical problems

This final course will focus on Working with Properties, Using the Order of Operations, and Simplifying Expressions. This basic knowledge and working understanding will be helpful for upcoming Pre-Algebra classes students may be taking in their own future math classes
Outline:
Day 1: Property Brothers (and sisters)! --- Identity Properties, Zero Property, Commutative & Associative Properties
Day 2: Property Brothers (and sisters)! --- Distributive Property
Day 3: Simplifying Algebraic Expressions by Combining Like Terms.
Day 4: Solving by Combining & Crossing Over --- Working with both sides of an equation.
Prior Knowledge:
Students will need to know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
Students should have completed PreAlgebra is Elementary(1),(2), & (3) or have a strong knowledge & understanding of working with & solving for an unknown variable.Learning Goals

- Recognize and Use the Identity Properties of Addition and Multiplication
- Recognize and Use the Zero Property of Multiplication
- Recognize and Use the Commutative Property of Addition and Multiplication
- Recognize and Use the Associative Property of Addition and Multiplication
- Recognize and Use the Distributive Property in various formats (including use of unknown variables and negatives)
- Recognize and Use the Order of Opeations

- Offering Self-Paced Middle School Math classes for students who are new to Middle School Math, Preparing to start Pre-Algebra, have just started Pre-Algebra classes, or are struggling with Pre-Algebra and want to get back to understanding the basics.
- Helping students take the Elementary math concepts they learned in grade school and apply them to Middle School & Pre-Algebra math.
- Helping middle school students who struggle with math, those who have math anxiety or fear, to gain more confidence in their own Mathematical abilities.
- No gizmos, gadgets, or games - we dig into the math.
- Building my classes around 4 main concepts:
What do you do?, How do you do it?, Why do you do it?, Where do you use it?
- Work with the 5 Basic Elements of Algebra:
Translate, Calculate, Evaluate, Simplify, and Solve
- Taught in public school for over 20 years both in the classroom and coaching students outside the classroom.
- Left public school teaching in 2017 and started my own Math Coaching Business.
- I have a BS in Business Management, a minor in Technical Theater, and a Masters Degree in Education.
- My goal is for all students that struggle with math, to begin understanding and excelling using basic mathematical reasoning skills.
- I believe in people's natural desire to make sense out of chaos. Therefore, I help students start with what they already know, then work to build their understanding of new concepts.
- Building a system of logic, reasoning, and understanding, combined with the student's ability to think and create, allows them to achieve and succeed in math.
