Welcome to Pre-Algebra! Do you struggle to understand how all the formulas, numbers, operations, and variables work together? Do you want a clearer understanding of Pre-Algebra? Do you ever wonder why Pre-Algebra is the base class to higher mathematics? Pre-Algebra can be seen as challenging. This is sometimes the case when students are exposed to these concepts without a love of the topic. I teach this class through my love of numbers and how they impact our world and thinking. Pre-Algebra is used everyday day, and this class will give the Pre-Algebra concepts of those interactions. This class will be taught with an interactive discussion format where students are encouraged to ask questions and feel comfortable learning how to work with Pre-Algebra concepts. Week 1: Integers and Rational Numbers Week 2: Algebraic Expressions Week 3: One and Two Step Equations Week 4: Multi-step Equations Week 5: Inequalities Week 6: Formulas Week 7: Proportions Week 8: Percent Week 9: Ordered Pairs and Intercepts Week 10: Slope of a Line Week 11: Equation of a Line Week 12: Graph of a Line This class is structured in a 12-week course format intended to support students with successful learning of Pre-Algebraic skills and knowledge. Each class builds upon the knowledge of the previous classes, so it important to attend all classes. Learners need to have a basic understanding of number relations and interactions as prerequisite of this Pre-Algebra class. Calculators are allowed after the first few classes. This class is taught in English and is open to different types of learners. I look forward to learning with you!

Hi!
My name is Jenn Bendyna. I live and work in Northern Baltimore County, Maryland. As a veteran teacher (20+ years) with my Bachelor's in English, Master's from Drexel University in Mathematics, and a PhD in Education-Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (current). I have taught ages from preschool to college. With Outschool, I love to currently teach Pre-Algebra and Algebra. I look forward to adding some ASL and a preschool class soon.
I seek to share the love of learning to my learners. Using fun tricks that I have gained from teaching and mostly from my own dyslexic journey, I am able to encourage learning. No problem if you have concerns, learning differences, or confusions, I am here to help. Each student is given personal supports to increase their success.
Look forward to a fun class!
