US Grade 3 - 6
Anyone interested in plants and how they grow will enjoy this one-time science class! We will cover the basics of photosynthesis and how plants use it to make food for themselves and animals, including humans! We will learn some important vocabulary words. We will explore...... *Ingredients! Plants need water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide. *Processes! Plant stomas soak up carbon dioxide, chlorophyll in cells soaks up sunlight, and roots drink up water. *Products! Stomas release oxygen into the air and glucose and starch are created to fuel plant growth and make vegetables grow. *Pigments! Pigments are chemicals in nature and they make flamingoes pink and plants green, among many more! The information is broken down in a way that makes it interesting and easy to understand. I include lots of photos, videos, definitions, and explanations that help make clear this wonderous process happening inside plants at a microscopic level. Students will find out why photosynthesis is so important to all life on Earth, not just plants! Students should feel free to contribute to the conversation by sharing what they know and asking questions. We will have a short, fun trivia game at the end of class. A printable mini-book on photosynthesis will be available for printing after the class. **If you don't see a time that works for your family please feel free to message me a request for a better option.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the process of photosynthesis from beginning to end. They will learn what a plant needs to make photosynthesis happen and the plant parts that are vital components of this process. Students will learn about the byproducts of photosynthesis that benefit all life on Earth.

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Minnesota State University, a Minnesota teaching license, and a 160 hour TEFL certification.
I have been teaching and guiding children since 2000 as a preschool/childcare provider, an ELA teacher in public school classrooms, and an ESL teacher in online classrooms.
I love teaching, but I also love being a student! I take as many classes as possible on whatever subject piques my interest. Teaching and learning are my life!
When my three daughters are home from college we love going for hikes, cooking together, and of course, snuggling our two funny cats, Pumpkin and Marigold.
I hope to see your learner in class!
