US Grade 1 - 3

Visit the mysterious greenhouse with three rooms, each containing a different carnivorous plant. Detective V, the Venus Fly Trap will give you clues and information about how the plants lure and trap insects to help you earn the Golden Leaf of Knowledge.

The class worksheet (printable) is included in the welcome message on the classroom page. Please print it before class begins. If you don't have a printer you can download the pdf to your learner's device so they can color on it that way, but please do that BEFORE class begins so we aren't taking away from learning time.

NOTE: My Springing Into Science is Fun! ongoing sessions are currently held several times a week. I teach a new science lesson each week and have enough lessons for the entire school. I will gladly start a new session with your learner if a better time and day works for you. Send me a message and we can talk about it.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how the carnivorous butterwort, pitcher plant and the Venus fly trap catch and trap insects.

Hello!  My name is Sharon, Teacher Sharon. I am both thankful and excited to have this opportunity to help children from all over the world have fun while learning. I love making learning fun! 

I have my Masters of Education (MEd) and over 20 years of experience teaching and learning from children of all ages. I have experience as a nursery school director, a Kid's Club supervisor (twice) and a classroom teacher for Pre-K through high school. I have also taught technology, after-school elementary science classes, cupcake decorating, and brick building. 

I am very fortunate to have grown up overseas and have lived all over the world. Some of my many passions include creating fun, educational classes, scuba diving, traveling, science, crafting, my precious dog, cat, fish and snails and of course teaching.

I like to keep class sizes small to help learners engage and participate. If your child is interested in any of my classes that are not currently scheduled, or if a different time or day would work better for you, please feel free to contact me.

Learning in my classroom is engaging, energetic, fun, enjoyable, upbeat and entertaining. "Your child won't want to leave at the end of class and will beg to come back for more." (That's my superhero catch phrase.)
