US Grade 2 - 5
I will teach learners the fundamental basics of writing an essay. They will learn about creating an introductory opening, body, and closing in their essays. This a lecture-style lesson in which learners will write along with the teacher who will model an essay. Learners will take part in a Q and A format and will begin showing effective writing skills with the teacher during the session. In the first week, we will focus on Descriptive and Narrative Writing. Learners will work on completing an essay plan and writing both a short descriptive writing and a narrative essay. In the second week, learners will focus on writing an essay plan for both expository and opinion writing. During the second week, learners will also work on completing both an expository and “How To” writing piece. In the third and fourth week sessions, the learners will review and write narrative, expository, and “How To” writing pieces. Learners do not need to have much experience with writing an essay, but should at least know an essay has an opening, body, and a closing.
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to demonstrate effective communication through written writing skills.
