Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
This course is exactly the same as my LIVE "Our Spectacular Solar System" except that it is FLEX and students can work at their own pace.

Class 1: Introduction to the planets in our solar system: Inner & Outer Planets
-Planet Foldable
-Solar System Bingo (Students will need objects to use as Bingo Chips) *New to course as of May 20th, 2020)

Class 2: Phases of the Moon
-Graphic Organizer and Oreo Cookie model of the phases of the moon (Students will need Oreo cookies for their phases of the moon model.)
-Instructions for the final project will be presented. Students can choose from the following:
1. Planet Brochure
2. Making an astronaut that includes a writing activity about a planet of choice.
Templates will be provided for both and explained during this class recording.

Class 3: Sun, Earth & Moon System
-Sun & Earth Rotation: Lesson includes a presentation and students will create a model demonstrating the Sun-Earth Rotation. (Students will need TWO brad/brass fasteners to complete this model.)

Class 4: Space Art, Stars & Share Final Projects
-Share Planet Research Projects through Outschool classroom.
-The lesson includes a presentation about stars in our galaxy and fun facts about our universe.
-Space Art (Students will need BLUE and PURPLE WASHABLE markers, black felt tip marker, & various color markers to color stars, planets and rockets, a glossy sheet of paper, a spray bottle filled with water)

A flex course allows learners to cover material during a time that is convenient for them each week. Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher weekly via the Outschool classroom, which will allow for more engagement between the teacher and learner. After weekly lessons, students can collaborate with their peers by replying to the announcements and lesson postings in the Outschool classroom.

Participation will include an Introduction post, discussion posts, assignments, and projects in the Classroom. This allows students to process what they are learning by collaborating with peers and the teacher. Participation in assignments allows students to practice and reinforce learning. This also provides opportunities for the teacher to gauge student learning and provide interventions if necessary. Private messages or classroom comments are usually responded to within 24 hours with the exception of weekends.

I can't wait for you to join me on this adventure as we learn about Our Spectacular Solar System!
