Beginner Level
This one time class will be an introductory class in reading and understanding the symbols of music. This class is also the perfect opportunity to see if your student enjoys working with me, as I teach multiple instruments across all instrumental families and offer private individual and group lessons. Topics covered will include recognition of the music staff, measures, time signature, counting, recognition of quarter notes and quarter rests, and clapping out rhythmic examples. The class will be structured similar to a regular group lesson. Prior knowledge will be assessed. New material will be introduced, demonstrated and practiced. This one time class will be with a small group enabling interacting between myself and the individual students. My teaching style for this type of class is "I do, we do, you do". Learners will be able to ask questions at any time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the function of the music staff, measures, and the time signature.
The students will learn the value/duration of various notes and rests with the goal of being able to clap out simple examples of music notation
