Beginner Level
What will be taught? Students will learn the foundational building blocks of words by understanding syllable types, patterns, and how they come together to form words. They will practice decoding multisyllabic words and improve their fluency, comprehension, and confidence in reading. What topics will you cover? The six types of syllables (closed, open, vowel-consonant-e, vowel team, r-controlled, and consonant-le). How to divide words into syllables for easier decoding. Strategies for reading longer, unfamiliar words. Activities to build fluency and comprehension. The class will be a mix of interactive activities, direct instruction, and hands-on practice: I will use a combination of: Direct instruction: Explaining and modeling concepts with visuals and examples. Interactive activities: Games, group challenges, and word-building tasks to make learning engaging. Multimedia tools: Slides, videos, and audio clips to cater to different learning styles. Guided practice: Providing support as students work on decoding words and reading texts. Independent application: Opportunities to practice skills on their own or in pairs. What's your teaching style? My teaching style is interactive, student-centered, and supportive. I aim to make learning engaging by connecting concepts to real-life reading experiences and empowering students to take ownership of their progress. I focus on positive reinforcement and celebrate every success, big or small. Learners will interact with me regularly through: Guided instruction during lessons. One-on-one support during practice sessions
