"They are an unlikely pair: George is "small and quick, dark of face"; Lennie, a man of tremendous size, has a mind of a young child. Yet they have formed a "family," clinging together in the face of loneliness and alienation. Laborers in California's dusty vegetable fields, they hustle work when they can, living a hand-to-mouth existence. For George and Lennie have a plan: to own an acre of land and a shack they can call their own. When they land jobs on a ranch in the Salinas Valley, the fulfillment of their dream seems to be within their grasp. But even George cannot guard Lennie from the provocations of a flirtatious woman, nor predict the consequences of Lennie's unswerving obedience to the things George taught him." Essential Questions: What is meant by the American Dream? Is the American dream a destructive or empowering force? What leads a person to become isolated in a community? Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a creative, enthusiastic teacher who wants all children to be successful learners through the encouragement of creative expression. I have spent the last seventeen years developing the necessary skills to achieve this goal. It is very important to me that every child learns in a fun and engaging manner.
During my career as a teacher, I have been an English department chair, technology representative, curriculum writer, and classroom teacher. In each of these roles, I have gained knowledge that I have been able to apply in my classroom.
I am particularly proud of the “Teacher of the Year” award I earned in 2011. I have always strived to be the best teacher possible. I bring creativity and innovation to my instruction. I enjoy creating lessons that inspire, motivate, and facilitate the learning of every child.
I hope to see your child in my classroom soon.
