They will answer questions about numbers that are "big" and "small" to build on prior math knowledge and make connections to the vocabulary in this lesson. Multiple opportunities will be provided for each student to participate verbally, both as a group and individually,...
Student will improve their understanding of the math concepts of "greater than" and "less than" when comparing numbers and reading number sentences.
I have many years of experience with teaching early childhood and elementary math, and I know that learning must be fun and engaging to be memorable. Incorporating other areas of study, such as Language Arts, allows them to pull from prior knowledge to grasp new concepts and expand their learning.
No homework will be assigned, but students are encouraged to continue practicing this skill with parents at home by comparing numbers of items around their house.
All information and visuals will be provided by the teacher during the lesson for student participation.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The teacher will monitor student comprehension and achievement through observation during the lesson. If needed, suggestions will be sent to parents after the lesson is completed.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
