Beginner Level
Music Theory 101 is a complete and thorough lesson on the major scale. In music, the major scale is immensely important. Almost all the music that we hear on a daily basis can be traced back to the major scale. In this class, we will learn firstly how to play and build a major scale using the major scale formula. We will then learn how to build chords, melodies, and use the scale to create actual music. We will also apply what we have learned to analyse popular songs. This class is designed for beginners but is crucial for any musician looking to further their understanding of music theory. I have learned that teaching in a slow, relaxed style while still pushing for engagement and progress is ideal. Therefore, Music Theory 101 will start at the very beginning and very gradually become an all encompassing theory class. The class is made for interaction and each student should ideally have an instrument, as we will work on applying the major scale to playing music.
