US Grade 5 - 8
This middle school math class is a great introduction for statistics and probability. This class will introduce learners to statistical questions, various ways to display and analyze data, mean, median, and mode, and basic probability. We will define the math terms as well as introduce how to solve stats and probability problems. Students will be provided with guided notes and interactive practice problems. Our class will include group discussions and opportunities for students to showcase their learning through the Zoom annotate feature. Students should be able to perform basic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, but no prior stats education is necessary. Session 1: Defining Statistical Questions and introducing Dot Plots, Frequency Tables, and Histograms Session 2: Mean, Median, and Mode Session 3: Creating and Analyzing Box Plots Session 4: Basic Probability
Learning Goals
