55 mins in-class hoursMastery Evaluation
1 hour per week. I will assess student's mastery throughtout the class and provide feedback of how they can continue to improve and practice skills once class is over.Class Experience
In this class we will work hard and have fun learning how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators through examples, discussion, and practice. It would help if the students know their multiplication facts, but I will provide a multiplication chart just in case. There will be no homework, but the sheets provided will give you additional practice. The learners should leave this class with a better understanding how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators or mixed numbers, and a basic understanding of how to simplify the answer. I will teach these concepts with a time saving trick, a much simpler approach! Students should have some knowledge of fractions before they can learn to add or subtract fractions with unlike denominators. If your child has no background on fractions you may want to have them take my Introduction Course, Fractions Made Simple first. It is entirely up to you:)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Slippery Rock University
Math anxiety is a common problem for many students. I have seen it so many times in the classroom and in my tutoring sessions.
It does not need to be! I teach Math with a simple, step-by-step approach, using a variety of engaging activities for all learning styles, and I have had great success with my students. I create a positive and relaxed environment for learning where students are comfortable. Children learn that they are free to ask questions, and yes, it is okay to make mistakes. Sometimes we learn most from the mistakes we make. I have been teaching K-6th grades for almost 20 years, and I have been a personal tutor for over ten. I believe all children can learn, and I work hard to meet all my students needs. Learning is made fun in my classroom and students will find success, with academics, and building their confidence too.
