US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this one-time class, we will learn to make a sum of 10 with addition. We will learn 11 math facts that total ten. We will use fun slides and fill in a worksheet as we learn these 11 addition facts to make 10. We will use our fingers (and see our friendly monkey on the slides holding up his fingers too!) as well as ten frames to see how we can make 10 multiple ways. Learners may also bring countable objects to use during class as well. The learner should be able to count to ten and be familiar with addition. I like my classes to be fun and engaging. I include everyone and we take turns during class figuring out our answers. You will receive a worksheet with your welcome email that you can print and bring to class. This completed worksheet can then be used to review and practice these math facts at home. I look forward to seeing you in class! Miss Erin

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.
My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.
Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.
I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
