US Grade 2
This ongoing course covers the second half of second grade math. It has a total of 10 weeks. It then rotates through the same 10 lessons. It is ongoing, so you may join/leave any week. Each week is a different math objective. I did this to accommodate virtual learners who are unsure of their schedule and possible changes during the semester. It is the same 10 lessons as "Fun With Second Grade Math: Semester 2" that is a multi-day course. It is a great class to get ahead or review for second grade math. My classes are interactive and fun. I like to engage the children and we all problem solve together. I may use props, a whiteboard, and fun animated PowerPoint slides during my lessons. I always encourage learner interaction and I check in occasionally with a thumb's up to make sure there are no questions before we proceed. We learn a new math concept every week, practice together and may complete a worksheet during class. I explain the optional homework sheet at the end of class and answer any remaining questions. I will send out a file the day before class. It will be uploaded in the classroom. This may include a homework sheet and/or a worksheet for the learner to follow along in class. See you in class! Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College
Hello! My name is Erin Howard. I love teaching young learners. My passion is to help your young learner gain the knowledge and confidence in their basic math skills. My math classes focus on skills such as solving word problems, learning math fact families, place value, telling time, geometry, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
I have my bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College. I have owned a home daycare, privately tutored students in math, and was a teaching assistant in college. I have taught over 8,000 classes online.
My goal is to bring fun, excitement, and passion into my classroom. It is important for young learners to be engaged, actively participate, and enjoy learning. This builds the foundation of how they will view their journey for knowledge in the future. I know I have accomplished this goal when my students continue to return to my classroom, and I see their personal improvement and how proud they are of their progress.
Outside of work, I am a mother of five children, and I have three grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy. My youngest two children are twins. They are nineteen years old and they are sophomores in college. We enjoy cooking, baking, playing with our dog, watching movies, shopping, and taking trips to visit new places.
I look forward to this journey with you and your young learner. I will see you in the classroom.
