Making Text Connections- Chapter Book Discussion and Reading Comprehension

In this one-time class, students will focus on the text connections of text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world. Students will use current chapter books they are reading to understand and discuss the concepts through guided questions.

Class Experience

As a Reading Specialist, I love encouraging my students to seek and find books that inspire them to read more. Using books that students are currently reading, the teacher will provide new learning on making rich text connections. Students will discuss books using the guiding questions. Students will make text connections through literature discussions guided by the teacher. 
Students will become encouraged to continue reading.

Students should read the book they are sharing with the class before joining.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
