Come and join a fun filled class to learn all about your recorder, how to play it and start to read music. This course is a gentle, fun, and simple introduction to playing the recorder. Learn to play your first notes, find out about rhythm and play some simple tunes. Follow the demonstrations of the teacher and a colourful presentation to begin your musical journey in fun, easy steps. Over 4 weeks learners will acquire the basic knowledge to play three simple tunes using their recorder. This course uses just 3 notes, the emphasis is on correct playing technique and recognising the musical notes on the stave. Week 1 - Let's get started, are you sitting comfortably? You will learn how to hold your recorder and how to sit correctly. We will start by making some fun sounds with the recorder. You will learn your first note and practice some rhythms using two note lengths. Week 2 - Learn your second and third notes, review rhythms and play some simple rhythms and a tune. Week 3 - Review the notes and rhythms. Say, clap and play simple rhythms and introduce a new song. Week 4 - After a review of the four weeks and everything learned learners will be invited to play one of the songs they have learned. You can now play three notes B A G, you can recognise these notes on the stave, you can recognise 2 different note lengths and you can play your first songs on the recorder. If you enjoyed this course you could try a level 1 I Can Play one-time or multi-day class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to read notes on the music staff, be able to play 3 notes on the recorder, and with practice will be able to play the tunes introduced during the course.
