Class experience
In this career exploration class, I will introduce students to a broad overview of what graphic design is, what designers do, who they work for, and what skills are needed to succeed. We'll discuss how sketching helps designers mock-up their work, but being an excellent artist is NOT required! The class will be presented as a combination of discussion, presentation and engagement. Learning Objectives: • To broaden the student's understanding of a career in graphic design • How to find your niche! We will identify different specialties within the field of graphic design, discuss what working in those fields looks like, and identify types of employers looking for those skills • Skills to pay the bills! Will will discuss skills students may already possess that contribute to employability and identify education opportunities to bridge any skill gaps they may have
Please have a pencil and paper available to complete a sketching activity. Students are expected to stay on camera during the class to engage with the teacher and share their work.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
