In this weekly class learners can bring their slime, putty, clay, play dough, or any sensory substance, as well as markers. They will get to use what they bring to learn the letters of the alphabet and learn about some animals!

Class experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Students will understand how to form letters using clay or other sensory items.

Students will understand how to form letters using markers, or simply learn the shape of the letter by coloring it in.

Students will improve their social skills.

Students will improve their understanding of meaningful conversation, including asking and answering questions with peers.
I have a professional teaching certificate in the field of Special Education, and I have been teaching elementary school aged kids for over four years. I also homeschool my own daughter. I enjoy teaching all subjects, but I am especially fond of art and tactile teaching. I like to show my students how to get their hands on something to enhance their learning. I am a big proponent of growth mindset, including encouraging young learners who are not quite confident yet.
Homework Offered
Assessments Offered
Students are assessed informally throughout each class. A formal assessment is available upon request and at my discretion if the learner attends all 26 days.
Grades Offered
I will add an optional worksheet before each class with some letter outlines that can be printed to use with the squishy substances and markers. I suggest that you laminate the paper or put it in a sheet protector. You can also put it under some clear plastic wrap and have your learner play on top of the plastic wrap! Using a plastic sheet protector is also great for writing on with a dry erase marker.

Learners can bring anything slimy or squishy. Ideas include:
play dough
air dry clay
plastalina clay
polymer clay
slime
cloud slime
squishy sand
slimy goop sand
kinetic sand
putty
mud

Learners may bring food items that are squishy or slimy if the parent desires. Make sure your learner knows if they are allowed to eat it or not! Some of my students have enjoyed things like:
marshmallow fluff
gelatin
homemade nut/seed butter play dough
pizza dough
fondant
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parental guidance is suggested to make sure that learners are aware of safety. Some slimes and squishy substances should not be eaten or put in the mouth.
