Class Experience

Students will learn all about a platypus! They will write a simple paragraph using the IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing).
First, they will read a passage about platypuses and discuss the many interesting facts about them. Then they will create a keyword outline for each sentence. Later, they will use the keyword outline to create a collaborative paragraph. Finally, they will use "dress-ups" such as adjectives and adverbs to jazz up their writing for a closing statement.

Learning Goals

Students will be introduced to keyword outlines and using their keywords to create a collaborative paragraph.
