***THIS IS A SELF-PACED CLASS. THERE WILL BE NO LIVE MEETINGS DURING THIS COURSE.*** **First-time Outschool learners get $20 credit towards this class using code KELSEYT2020 at checkout! For this 7-lesson self-paced class, learners will travel to each continent of the world, and learn about different countries, flags, animals, and cultures of each continent, too. We will be using the Montessori puzzle map for a project together as well. Each week, there will be video lesson presentations, a project where each learner will make a watercolor version of the Montessori puzzle map, and virtual field trips. There will also be scavenger hunts to finding certain flags from certain countries and finding facts about countries, too! WEEK ONE- There will be an intro to the continents day on Monday, and there will be a video presentation of the “Continents Song” that can be accessed at any point during the course. We will also begin our first continent lesson with North America. We will talk about each country of North America (Canada, United States, Greenland, and Mexico). The flags will also be displayed for each country as well. We will also be starting our world puzzle map project together. WEEK TWO- We will learn about the continent of South America, with its countries and flags. WEEK THREE- We will learn about the continent of Africa, with its countries and flags. WEEK FOUR- We will learn about the continent of Europe, with its countries and flags. WEEK FIVE- We will learn about the continent of Asia, with its countries and flags. WEEK SIX- We will learn about the continent of Australia, and the six states of Australia, along with Oceania. WEEK SEVEN- We will learn about the continent of Antarctica, and why not a lot of people live on this continent. We will also be finalizing our puzzle map together! We will do a big scavenger hunt of all the countries and flags around the world, too.

Supply List
There will be attachments for the scavenger hunts on the welcome post. For the Montessori world puzzle map, you may purchase a small or regular sized one on Amazon for around $40-$60 (depending on the size) if you do not have one already. If you do use a different type of world puzzle map, make sure for the project to use the respective colors representing the Montessori world puzzle map. Additionally for your convenience, there will also be continent attachments on the welcome email for the map-making process as well if you are not able to access a Montessori Puzzle Map or a regular puzzle map. You will also need: - A large poster board -Watercolor palettes with brushes -cup of clean water, and one cup water used for dirty watercolor water. -Watercolor paper -Paste glue -Scissors -Pencil or black marker
