*This class is built very similar to my ongoing Let's Travel The World Together class, but it offers the flexibility of schedule for those that cannot attend the scheduled times or cannot commit to a fix schedule every week. In this Self-Paced class we will discover the World one country at a time. We will learn about country's geography, customs, language, food, wild life, landmarks, fun facts and more. Additionally, classes will often include some information (from real travel experience of the teacher) about what it is like to travel to the respective country. For each lesson the following materials will be provided: - Pre-recorded video of new information (including location, capital, flag, weather or other geographical features, customs, typical local food, wild life, maybe learn a word or two in the local language) - Link to Self-Paced Nearpod presentation to be followed while watching the video - Kahoot Game PIN Learners will be asked to watch the video while following along in the Nearpod presentation. In Nearpod slides they will be asked to: - share any previous knowledge about the country in question, if any (they can type their response or record a short video or audio recording) - participate in polls, quizzes, virtual field trips, and other activities After covering the new material, they will be asked to play a Kahoot game (to check the retention of the new information in a fun, engaging way). Additionally learners will be asked to upload their completed worksheets OR videos of themselves speaking about things they already new about the country, facts that they found to be most interesting and reasons why they would or wouldn't want to travel to the respective country. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Science from University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business
I am a global nomad and have visited over 90 countries, passionate about sharing these experiences and knowledge with others. While visiting these countries I was fortunate enough to meet many local people that helped me get exposure and better understanding of the local cultures and traditions.
I have over 2 years experience teaching geography to middle school and high school learners. Additionally, I am a certified language teacher with over 3 years experience. However, please note that this is not a language class, and we will not speak in depths about any languages.
Additional sources will include reaching out and interviewing the people living in the courtiers covered (including multiple prospective).
NOTE: This is a geography class, which introduces the country in general terms. Mentioning the languages spoken in the country and its general culture is a very small part of this class, and these topics will not be covered in depth.
