In this 4-week course, learners will practice reading German. In order to take this class, learners will have to know their German letter sounds. This is the perfect course for learners who finished Let's Read German: Practice Reading and Comprehension 1, but can also be taken by other beginning German readers. We will increase the senteces we read from one-two sentence per page to three-Four sentences per page. Will will use a worksheet that can be folded into a little book. Each class we will read one of these "books" and play some games to learn the new vocabularies. Here are the topics of each week:
Week 1: Weather, Seasons
Week 2: Clothing, Hobbies
Week 3: Zoo animals, Farm animals
Week 4: School, Home
During each class, students will practice their reading and learn new vocabulary words related to the weekly theme. A sample page looks like this "Es ist Frühling. Die Blumen blühen. Es ist warm." ("It is spring. The flowers bloom. It is warm.). I will follow each course with another reading level, so that eventually we will be reading German chapter books together (not in this course!).

Hello! My name is Frau Collett (Mrs. Collett). I am a native German speaker. I lived the first 24 years of my life in Germany and have lived 13 years in the US. I have a Masters degree in Early Childhood and Elementary School Education. I have been an Elementary School teacher at a German Elementary School for five years and an online teacher for another 5 years. I also taught students German as a second language. I love teaching German in a creative way by reading stories or using interactive tools that help children learn in a fun way. I have two children that I also raise bilingual.
