US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
Beginner Level
In this ongoing class, preschoolers will be introduced to different beginner German vocabularies. We will cover a new topic in each week that will fit into our monthly theme, but practice greetings, counting and colors in most classes. We will start each class with an hello song and often sing a song that relates to the monthtly content. Here are our themes for the first 4 weeks of class: February 9th 2024: Valentines, Colors and Numbers February 16th 2024: Pets, Colors and Numbers February 23rd 2024: Pets, Colors and Numbers March 1st 2024: Zoo animals, Colors and Numbers Here are our monthly themes: September: School October: Fall and Halloween November: Food December: German Christmas January: Winter February: Pets and Valentines March: Zoo April: Spring/Farm May: Body Parts June: Summer July: Bugs Each class will have a similar structure: 1. Hello Song 2. Greetings 3. Song 4. New Vocabulary 5. Activity/Game I am using Canva slides (screenshare) with fun pictures to get students engaged. I will also use short youtube videos (screenshare) for some of my songs. This course is great for absolute beginners but also works well for students who are bilingual speakers and need more reinforcement in speaking German. A the end we always play a fun interactive game on nearpod that students love! What will you need for class? Most classes will need nothing more than your computer. Make sure you are not far from your child so you can help with playing our game on another website (nearpod, no sign up needed) during the last 5 minutes of class. Make sure you read my weekly messages, because sometimes you will need to print some games (often Bingo) to play during class. Every week your child will receive flash cards, games and videos to praciced our learned words. *I will speak a mixture of German and English in this class, because my main focus is to motivate students to learn a new language. It often scares students if I use German only and I noticed that they are much more motivated when I use a mixture of both languages. Please let me know if you are interested in a full immersion preschool class and I will consider offering it.* I hope to see you in my class! Frau Collett
