Class Description: Join our one-time "DIBELS Assessment Administration" class, designed to facilitate the administration of the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) test, including the MAZE comprehension component. This class provides clear instructions and a structured environment to ensure accurate and effective assessment. Importance of the DIBELS Assessment: DIBELS is a widely used, nationally recognized tool for evaluating early literacy skills, guiding instructional strategies, and monitoring student progress. It helps identify reading difficulties early, enabling timely interventions and support. How the DIBELS Test is Administered: Preparation: Ensure a quiet, distraction-free environment for your child. Have necessary materials ready, including the test booklet and a stopwatch. Phonemic Awareness: Your child will engage in tasks that involve recognizing and manipulating sounds in words, such as initial sound fluency and phoneme segmentation. Alphabetic Principle: The test will assess your child's ability to recognize letters and their corresponding sounds through activities like reading nonsense words. Accuracy and Fluency: Your child will read passages aloud for one minute. The number of correctly read words and any errors will be recorded to measure reading fluency. Reading Comprehension (MAZE): In this component, your child will read a passage with missing words. They will choose the correct word from a list to complete the passage within a set time. What Parents Can Expect from the Results: Detailed Report: You will receive a detailed report of your child's performance in each component of the DIBELS assessment. Strengths and Areas for Improvement: The results will highlight your child's strengths and pinpoint areas that may need additional support or intervention. Actionable Insights: The assessment data will provide actionable insights to help you and your child's educators tailor instruction to meet your child's specific literacy needs. Support and Resources: Based on the results, you will receive recommendations for resources and activities to support your child's literacy development at home. This one-time class ensures a smooth and effective administration of the DIBELS assessment, helping educators gather valuable data to support your child's literacy development.
