During this lesson we will be practicing a variety of language associated with adding such as: * sum * sum of * add * addition * plus * together *altogether * to make Lessons will cover : * Reading, writing and interpreting mathematical statements involving addition for example: "Add 42 to 5" or "What is the sum of 42 and 5?" etc. * Addition (+) and equals (+) signs. * Represent and use number bonds within 20. * Add one-digit and two digit numbers to 20, including zero. * Solve one-step problems that involve addition , using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and missing. This is so when these words appear in an a test situation or an assessment, children are already familiar with them and can use them with ease. This is a straightforward lesson where children should feel like they have worked confidently and made progress. This lesson is aimed at children who are between 6 and 9 years old. * Students should have a functional understanding of addition and be able to add two digit numbers together. * Students will be provided with printouts so that they may follow the lesson and have the opportunity to share their questions and demonstrate their understanding during class.
