🃏🎲 Who loves games? Socializing with others? Participating in friendly competitions? This is the class for you! 📝🎯 This weekly class is designed to give learners a chance to build friendships with others in a competitive yet friendly environment. We'll work on social skills, cooperating, turn-taking, respecting others, sportsmanship, advocating for ourselves, and showing kindness. Here are some of the games we will play together: Bingo This is an interactive, digital bingo game. We'll play themed bingo games based off of holidays, movie bingo, school-themed bingo, and more! No two bingo games will ever be the same. PlayingCards.io Playingcards.io allows us to play digital versions of some of our favorite card games, and some new ones, like Crazy Eights, Go Fish, Hearts, Zap: Space Mutiny, and more! UNO This is a digital version of the classic card game! Papergames.io This is an online game platform that offers digital versions of Connect 4, Battleship, Tic Tac Toe, and Gomoku. The more you play, the more game coins you earn. You can spend them to get freaky avatars and emojis to communicate with your opponent. Hangman (Similar to Wheel of Fortune): A learner will think of a word or phrase and create a hangman graphic. Other learners will take turns guessing letters that might be in that phrase and will ultimately guess the secret word or phrase. Skribble/Guess My Drawing (Pictionary): A learner will draw a picture on the screen. Others will have to guess what they are drawing. Estimystery: Learners will have the chance to estimate the number of items in a container. Math clues will be revealed that will help the learners narrow down the possible answer choices. At the end, the exact number of items in the container is revealed. Jeopardy: Learners will play a Jeopardy style game where categories are given, they choose a question to answer, and if answered correctly, they earn points. Blooket/Kahoot: In these fast-paced games, learners will race to answer questions, collect gold or crypto, and end up with the highest amount by the end of the game. We will also play Blooket/Kahoot games with teams of learners competing against each others. Most game topics will be entertaining in nature, such as guess that logo, or guess that Disney character. Drawphone Each player will be given a random word and should draw it in the box on their screen. The drawings will be digitally passed by Drawphone to another player at random and it will appear on their screen. Each player has to now guess what what this new drawing is. This continues until each "chain" of words and drawings has been passed to every player. The fun comes in when you show your results to everyone! GarticPhone This is a digital game somewhat like Telephone. Each player must write a quirky sentence. Then you receive someone else's sentence to draw/illustrate. See all of the drawings and try to describe them. Watch the hilarious results as everyone makes their guesses! ...and many more! Learners may join in any week! All instructions for games will be given before we start playing to ensure all learners know what to do and how to play. *Learners will need to be able to annotate on the screen for some games.* *Many of the games we play require learners to be able to read (questions and prompts) at least at a beginning 3rd grade level, or have an adult sitting nearby who can help with the reading.* *Learners will need to know how to open a second tab on their device or click on a link I send through the chat to access most games. Or, learners may choose to use a second device to access the games.* All games will be played in private sessions with only the learners in our class. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🌟Meet our All Star teaching team! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Uj-ioFqc4jWD3fbWlF7LhUzsyhm5eX6P6Imuzvai7og/edit?usp=sharing ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🌟Leaves of Learning Academy is rated "Popular" by Outschool because we are in the top 10% of all teachers on Outschool.
