In this ongoing social club, students will play a variety of Zoom-friendly party games similar to offline games such as Scattergories, Mad Gab, Pictionary, Encore, and more.

This ongoing class is designed to be a time for students to come together and socialize while playing games. Each week the class will be divided into 2 teams and will play a variety of party games for the duration of class. Competition will be low-key and friendly, and the teams will change weekly giving students a chance to interact with all of their classmates. The teacher will stress cooperation and good sportsmanship throughout. Here is a sample of the games that will be played. Similar to Scattergories, Students will be given a list of categories and will need to come up with a word to fit each category that begins with a given letter of the alphabet. Points are awarded for every word that fits which was not also chosen by another student. Similar to Pictionary: One student on a team will be given a list of words and will use the Zoom white board to draw. His/her teammates will try to guess the words. Similar to encore: A word will be given which is common in many song lyrics. Teams will go back and forth singing songs that contain the word until one team cannot think of any more. Points are awarded to the team that comes up with the most songs. Similar to Mad Gab Teams will be shown a series of words that when mashed together and said quickly create a completely different phrase. The object is to guess as many phrases as you can before time runs out. More games will be added based on students' preferences and multiple games will be played each session. Instructions will be given before each game so that everyone will know how to play.

Students should always come with a pencil and paper as some of the games will involve writing things down and/or keeping score.

Hi, I'm Teacher Tricia, and I'm so happy to be here on Outschool with you. I teach classes in a variety of subjects including language arts, literature, history, and life skills. As a homeschool mom of two kiddos, I have experience teaching in many different subjects and with ages ranging from early elementary through middle school. I also currently teach at a local co-op where classes are held on a once a week basis in a format very similar to that of Outschool except that I am actually in the same room as my students. In addition I attended Purdue University with a major in Elementary education and received plenty of classroom experience during my time there. I believe education should be a life-long endeavor, and I strive to learn something new everyday. It is my firm belief that when information is given in a fun and interesting way, students are much more likely to find the learning process enjoyable and to remember their classes and the subjects taught far into the future. I also ensure that each of my classes meets the needs of learners of all types. By presenting materials in many different ways and formats, I hope to be able to connect with each and every learner.
