In this four time class, the students will learn partners of five and ten and develop a strong math foundation. Math is fun!

Beginner Level
This four time math class will help further develop a strong math foundation and help to make math fun and engaging. The students will play a subitizing/quick image game using ten frames and dot formations. The students will be engaged and discuss what what they notice. They will also compose and decompose numbers to find partners of five and ten in creative ways. The lessons do not build on each other, so feel free to enroll your child for one lesson, or all four. Lesson 1: Quick Image Game (5) with dice and making combinations of five with a ten frame. Lesson 2: Quick Image (5) with Dominoes and making rainbow combinations of five with crayons. Lesson 3: Quick Image (10) with dice and making combinations of 10 with a ten frame. Lesson 4: Quick Image (10) with Dominoes and making a rainbow of ten partners with crayons.
Learning Goals
~Students will develop a strong math foundation and further develop a sense of numbers.
~By the end of the four classes, students will be able to tell the partners of 5 and partners of 10.
~Students will use communication skills to discuss numbers and patterns in numbers.
~Students will play a quick image game that will help increase subitizing skills.
~Students will use creative skills to create number projects.
~Students will use social skills to interact with other students.

Students will need white paper and crayons or colored pencils.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
