US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
In this ongoing class, the students will be introduced to one vocabulary word in each class. We will use a vocabulary four square activity to learn the word in depth. The students will write the word, draw a picture of the word, write synonyms or antonyms, write words or sentences stating examples of the word, then write some non~examples of the word. The students will increase their reading and writing vocabulary. Feel free to have your child join this class at any time. The lessons do not build on each other. This lesson will explore the vocabulary word transportation. We will find words that mean the same (synonyms) and opposite words (antonyms) and write a sentence and a picture to match. 30 mins online live lesson

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My teaching license certifies me to teach grades 1~6. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power. I can support your young learner.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw and label. Let's get started!
