Let's Learn Sight Words Using Nearpod

This will be a fun ongoing class.  In this class, your child will learn how to read and practice writing the Dolch Pre-Kindergarten Sight. I will be teaching the sight words from Dolch sight words for Pre-Kindergarten.  Each week, I will provide printable flashcards of the sight words that they learned during class and a worksheet you can print at home for your child to further practice the sight words learned in class.  Your child does not need these flashcards or worksheets in class.  Reviewing the sight words will help them retain the information we learn in class.  

I love to start every class by getting to know each student. I will ask them their name and we will have a short discussion.  I feel that children learn more when they have fun and feel comfortable.  

Next, we will all sing our ABC song or letter song and then I will introduce the words that we will learn during that class.  I will have engaging activities that will instill the words that we learn.  I will use flashcards, objects, and Nearpod each week in class.  This is an interactive class so we will use Nearpod to learn and play exciting games in class. I will post the Nearpod lesson link 30 minutes to an hour before class starts.  This way you can log into Nearpod and make sure everything is working before our class starts.  Nearpod makes this class fun and interactive.  You will have to enter your child's first name but not their last name when you log into Nearpod.  

In each class, we will use Nearpod for tracing activities and games. Your child can use a touch screen (if their computer has a touch screen) to trace letters or they can use their mouse.  Whatever is easier for them to use.

This is an ongoing class, so you can join this class at any time.  This is the perfect class for any child that is learning to read or needs reinforcement.  I believe that children learn the best while having fun, so all of my classes are fun and interactive.  I cannot wait to meet each one of you in class.  Teacher Jennifer

PLEASE NOTE:  
If you are using an iPad as your device, you are not able to split the screen with Zoom and Nearpod. The student will have to have Zoom in the background and will only be able to hear the teacher in order to keep Nearpod up and to participate in the lesson.  I recommend using a second device (such as a smartphone) if you are using an iPad. If they do not have a second device using their iPad is fine.  

I will not mute a student unless the background noise is distracting to the class.
