US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Beginner Level
In this class, we will help each other develop our phonological awareness. We will discover and explore speech sounds in different ways: through nature sounds; matching pictures and sounds; listening and speaking games; and blending and reading games. We will also start learning how to blend sounds together to produce words. We will focus on a particular sound each day and we will cover the following sounds: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, l, ll, ss. Week 1...
Students will become phonologically aware, they will learn to recognize the different sounds there can be in a single word. They will also start to develop their skills to blend these sounds together and to identify their written form.
I have been teaching phonics under different schemes such as Jolly Phonics, Read Write Inc and Letters and Sounds for the past 7 years in different schools in the UK, as well as a one-on-one (face-to-face and online) tutor. During my 15 years of experience as a teacher, I have worked with children for whom English is not their first language as well as with children diagnosed with dyslexia and dyspraxia.
