US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Intermediate Level
In this class, we will continue to explore new sounds in the Phase 3 of Phonics. Phase 3 introduces twenty-five new graphemes: j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er. We will also learn the letter names and continue to consolidate the sounds learnt in Phase 2. The lessons will be structured in the following way: 1. Greetings ( and introductions only in the first class). 2. Quick recap of previously introduced sounds. 3. Introduction of a new sound. 4. Listening and Speaking activity (Show and tell or craft activity on the last day of each week). 5. Reading and Writing activity. 6. Game. 7. Plenary, quick recap of sounds. For this lesson, children should have learnt Phase 2 sounds. We will continue to build our knowledge from there. To join this class, children should be able to sound out and read most of the words in the following text (Fluency is not necessary at this point, as we will improve on our fluency skills in this course): The frog sat on the log. The pig is in the mud. The cat is in the box. The duck is in the pond. All activities are designed to be interactive and to promote participation from every child. They also encourage children to use new and previously learnt sounds. *Remember to click the heart on my profile to follow me in order to see new classes.*
