Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
In this lesson, children will review their knowledge of the first set of sounds (s, a, t, p, i, n) in a fun and interactive way. Through games like snakes and ladders and memory games, they will practice blending the sounds together to form different words.
The lesson will consist of:
1. Greetings and introductions
2. Quick assessment of sound knowledge and review (listen and repeat).
3. Introduction of the game, explaining the rules.
4. Children will take turns to play the game.
5. Plenary, quick recap of sounds (student-led).

For this lesson, children should be in the beginning stages of their phonics learning as the sounds belong to the most basic set. Preferably, they should have been exposed to some CVC words and sound blending already. For example, S-A-T- sat.

Learning Goals

Students will review and practice their basic phonic knowledge as well as their sound blending skills.
