Class Experience

In this ongoing mythical creature drawing course, students will explore and learn about a variety of mythical creatures by creating art! Students will learn how to draw a unicorn, dragon, hippogriff, loch ness monster (Nessie), hippocamp (hippocampus, sea horse, etc.), and bigfoot (sasquatch), using colored pencil (pencil crayons).

Please note that since this is an ongoing course, students can enroll or withdraw at any time. Each scheduled meeting will be spent creating ONE drawing. Please make sure to check the scheduled times below to see which week each drawing will be taught and the materials needed for each drawing, (found in the supply list).

For every class, I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding. Students may also interact with each other if they want to share what they have learned during class. Students who enroll in this class should have basic drawing skills, like drawing and manipulating shapes with a pencil.

Art Teacher 🎨 / Middle Grade Fantasy Author πŸ“š/ Children's Book Illustrator πŸ‰

✨Welcome to my teacher page! ✨

After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I have written and illustrated my first middle grade fantasy book, Brush of Magic, with many more in the works!

Along with running my own art and book shop, I design and teach a variety of drawing and painting classes, ranging from realistic sketching, watercolor painting, fantasy drawing, and illustration. I have taught for about 9 years, 4 of which have been specific to art. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about booksβ€”especially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!

All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me. I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.

Thank you for stopping by! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am always happy to help.😊
