Ready to Babysit? Need some basic advice? Are you responsible and dependable? Are you patient? Are you playful? Can you love children? These are some of the characteristics of a reliable babysitter. The most important characteristic is LOVE. Join Aunt Sam as we discuss, practice and learn how to be a great, loving babysitter. Each Day will follow a similar schedule: • Topic Introduction with real life scenarios and stories (information will be attached in the classroom) • Discussion as group and in small groups • Interactive Activities with discussion • Presentations/sharing and Summary The goal will be to cover all daily topics. However, due to the nature of the classes, discussions and activities, we will move at the pace of the students. In child care, it is essential for the babysitter to feel comfortable with different scenarios. Through the interactive activities, role-plays and scenarios, the students will gain this confidence. Each class will have documents that cover the topics and give specific instructions on how to handle situations in relation to the topic. The student will be encouraged to practice these babysitting Traits with their family during the Camp. Day 1: Babysitting Basics Can you love that child? • Traits for Great Babysitters • Expectations-Parents and Babysitters playtime, screen time, feeding, bathing, bedtime, contact names and number of children with ages special needs, allergies screen time contact numbers other responsibilities (get mail?) length of care time travel, pick-up and return Day 2:Babysitter Dilemmas Will you love that child during dilemmas? • Bedtime/bath time dilemma • Who is in charge dilemma • Sibling contention dilemma • Discipline dilemma • Safety dilemma • Diaper dilemma Day 3: Babysitting Bag and Playtime Will that child love you? • Babies, Toddler, Tweens - Differences • What should you bring and why • What you should NOT bring and why • What should we do: play, read, craft? Summary, this day each learn will present their Personal Babysitting Bag and explain what their “takeaway” is from the camp. We will also have a Kahoot quiz this final day. Each learner receives a Certificate of Completion. I will be using different forms from Kidsit.com

Parental Guidance
We will discuss different scenarios and role play these scenarios. Examples are; What to do when a child disobeys, when a child hits another child, when a child lies, when a child cries, when parents get mad, when parents compliment you, when parents ask you how much you should be paid, when parents are late. The list can go on and we will not cover ALL possible scenarios. Each scenario will be discussed. Students gain confidence through this role play and discussion.

-Documents will be attached to classroom, most will be from Kidsit.com -Bag/backpack for Babysitting articles, puzzles, books, crafts (we will discuss this, one Babysitter's bag is always different depending on the Babysitter and the children.) -Larger Doll to practice changing a diaper (depending on students' experience we may or may not do this activity)
