Welcome to Learn About the Artists Private 1:1 lesson! I am a former School Psychologist, but also a portrait artist and I love to teach children how to draw! I am so happy that you have joined me! In this private class your student will learn about many different extraordinary artists! Below is a list of my favorites and there are more to come!

The list is great, but so is your learner! I want to expose them to artists while having so much fun! The journey will require great commitment, just like the renowned artist! The journey will be lots of fun too!
I offer a teacher crafted class plus supplemental videos and PowerPoints to help tell the story! During each class, your learner will have a brief introduction to the artist. This will be followed by a drawing lesson in which your learner will draw and color a rendition of the artist's most important painting. The lesson will be followed by a short story to compliment the artist. At the end of each lesson your learner can upload a picture of their drawing for final comment. 
CLASS SYLLYBUS: Note: This syllabus only reflects 16 of the many artists that I will cover.
Week 1: Vincent van Gogh:
We will learn about the artist, Vincent van Gogh. We will draw one of his most famous paintings “The Starry Night” Your child will be astonished by the infinity of the stars in the nighttime sky and the bright, bold colors in their completed masterpiece! It is my hope that I can instill a love for drawing as well as a sense of confidence in your young learner! 
Week 2: Pablo Picasso
During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Pablo Picasso and learn about the art movement he founded known as “Cubism.” This will be followed by a drawing lesson in which students will draw and color one of Picasso’s famous paintings called, “Girl with a Boat.” Picasso used many geometric shapes placed in unusual positions to create fun filled and often compelling pieces of art! He also used a lot of bright colors to show feeling in his work! Your child will be astonished by the many geometric shapes they draw in their completed masterpiece! Never again will they look at shapes, form, and color in the same way! 
Week 3: Claude Monet
During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Claude Monet and learn about the art movement he founded known as “Impressionism.” This will be followed by a drawing lesson in which students will draw and color one of Monet’s famous paintings called, “Woman with Parasol.” Monet used bold colorful brush strokes and lots of natural sunlight to create beautiful and often compelling pieces of art! He often painted the same image at various times of the day to capture different moods. Your child will be inspired using light and color in their completed masterpiece! 
Week 4: Georgia O'Keeffe
During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Georgia O’Keeffe. We will draw and color one of her most famous paintings “An Orchid!” Your child will be astonished by the bright and bold colors that Georgia O’Keeffe used to make her grand and radical depictions of flowers! They will discover that they too can create beautiful angiosperms and follow in the footsteps of this “Mother of American Modernism!” It is my hope that I can instill a love for drawing as well as a sense of confidence in your young learner.
Week 5: Leonardo Da Vinci
During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Leonardo Da Vinci. We will draw and color one of his most famous paintings “The Mona Lisa.” Color pencil techniques will be taught during this portrait lesson. Your child will be astonished by the beauty, clarity, and color of their drawing! This is a portrait of the Mona Lisa that they can be proud of
Week 6: Pierre Renoir:
During this class, your student will draw the famous painting, “Girl with Watering Can!” This is a lovely image of a child watering the gardens! 
Week 7: Georged Seurat: 
Have fun drawing “Island on the Grande Jatte,” In Paris France. Parisians enjoy the summer in wealthy attire!
Week 8: Wassily Kandinsky: Explore Wassily Kandinsky and the life of “Synesthesia” and Abstract Art
Week 9: Frida Kahlo: 
What does this female painter tell us about Mexican culture! During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Frida Kahol. We will draw and color one of her most famous paintings “Self Portrait.” Your child will be astonished by the bright and bold colors that Frida Kahol used to make her grand and radical portraits, but also the sense of commitment she had to the people of her native country, Mexico! They will discover that they too can create a beautiful portrait and follow in the footsteps of this “Female Mexican artist!” 
Week 10: Norman Rockwell: 
The iconic illustrator that tells the American story of family life! Let us draw “The Spooners! During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Norman Rockwell. We will draw and color one of his famous illustrations called “The Spooners!” We will look at why this artist was so well loved by most everyday Americans! He provided rich illustrations about common daily life! 
Week 11: Michael Angelo:
Michael Angelo was gifted in po. During this class students will learn about Michelangelo. We will draw a portrait of one of his most famous sculptures, “David.” The first half of class students will develop a drawing in five progressive steps. They will learn that drawings can also be broken down into five basic shapes. During the second half of class, students will learn basic coloring techniques. Your child will be astonished by the sense of innocence and calm they can create through the drawing! Michelangelo was an expert sculptor with strength in human anatomy. He studied anatomy with medical students. His classwork allowed him to capture the extraordinary anatomical features in both his paintings and sculptures! 
Week 12: John James Audubon: During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, John James Audubon, and learn about his classic art form of drawing the birds of North America! This will be followed by a drawing lesson in which students will draw and color one of Audubon’s famous drawings of a “Cedar Waxwing” Audubon used extraordinary techniques to capture his birds in realistic active poses! He also used a lot of bright bold colors to bring his birds to life! Your child will be astonished by the many details they draw to create a precise drawing! Never again will they look at birds in the same way! 
Week 13: Mary Cassatt:
This Female Impressionism style pain During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Mary Cassatt. They will draw one of her famous paintings called “Children Playing on the Beach.” They will understand how Mary used color and shadow to create her beautiful portraits! During the first half of class students will develop the drawing in five progressive steps. They will learn that drawings can also be broken down into five basic shapes. Mary Cassatt enjoyed painting portraits of women with their children. She achieved a unique l softness in all her paintings consistent with the Impressionism-style painting of her day! Your child will be inspired by her unique talent and the everyday scenes she portrayed. 
Week 14: Andy Warhol:
This man inspired the American images we know today, like Cambell Soup, john Lennon and Brillo pads! During this class students will have a brief introduction to the artist, Andy Warhol. We will draw and color Pop Art Figurines representing various famous artists. We will look at why this artist was so well loved by Americans in the Pop Art culture! Andy Warhol took common, everyday American items and turned them into unique art! Your child will never look at a can of Cambell’s Soup in the same way! 
Week 15: Amadeo Modigliani:
He was an Italian Painter known for his LONG NECKS and FINGERS! Optional activity: Draw a mirror image of you with a long neck!
Week 16: Rembrandt: During this class students will be introduced to the artist, Rembrandt. We will draw his famous painting “Storm on the Sea of Galilee.” Your child will discover why this artist became the most famous European portrait artist in history!
These private lessons are full of engagement. It is my hope to instill a love for art history and drawing too! I will provide lots of opportunities in class for questions. Students will also have an opportunity to study artists of their choosing.
