Beginner - Intermediate Level
NOTE: Corse has a 2-Man minimum.Welcome to Intoduction to Awesome Artis Mini-Course: Series C! I am so happy that you have joined me! In this 8-week course students will learn about eight influential artists: Johannes Vermeer, Hokusai, Henri Rousseau, Henri Matisse, Grant Wood, Salvador Dali, Faith Ringgold, and Michael Delacroix. Each week a new artist will be introduced, followed by a drawing lesson in which students will draw and color a rendition of the artist's most important painting. Each lesson will be followed by a short story to compliment the artist. Lessons will also be supplemented with engaging interactive experiences. After each class students can upload a picture of their completed drawings for the teacher’s comment. Students will have a chance to comment on each other’s drawings. Learning Goals
Students will learn about specific movements in art and the artists associated with those movements. They will draw a famous painting by that artist. Students will learn drawing techniques.

Johannes Vermeer
During this class students will learn about Johannes Vermeer who was considered to be one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age He specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life using expensive paints. He is known for his masterful treatment of light in his work. In this class students will have a brief PowerPoint introduction to the artist followed by a drawing lesson where students will draw and color one of his famous paintings called "Girl with a Pearl Earring."

Lesson 2:
Hokusai
Hokusai was a famous artist born in 1760 in Edo, Japan. As a boy he became an engravers apprentice. Later he became a Japanese artist and printmaker of the Ukiyo-e School. In the class students will learn about the artist through a unique PowerPoint presentation then draw his famous print called The Great Wave of Kanagawa. During the first half of class students will develop the drawing in five progressive steps. Your child will be inspired using light and color in their completed masterpiece!

Lesson 3:
Henrie Rousseau
Henri Rousseau was a famous artist from France who is best known for his jungle-themed paintings that are filled with vibrant color and life like detail! His style of art was known as Primitivism. Rousseau’s paintings had a superior quality that made the lush green jungles and wild animals come to life on the canvas! In this class students will draw and color his famous painting called “Jungle with Lion “in five steps. The drawing will be followed by a story about the artist.

Lesson 4:
Henri Matisse
The famous artist Henri Matisse was born in France in 1869. Matisse was a draftsperson, printer, and sculptor, but he was primarily known as a painter. Matisse is said to have had a profound influence on the development of Modern Art. He used intense colors, repeatable patterns, and flattened forms to create his Modern Art. This class students will develop a drawing of one of his famous paintings called “Beasts of the Sea.” The lesson will be followed by a story.
