Johann Sebastian Bach is considered to be "The Greatest Composer of All Time" but that was not always the case. When Bach was alive he was known to be a good harpsichordist, organist, and expert on organ building. Bach's compositions were considered "ordinary" and "old-fashioned" and most pieces did not even get published. It was not until 100 years after his death that his music was rediscovered. Bach was a master at creating music that tugs at your emotions. It is said that Bach never wrote a bad piece of music. Bach is such an important composer that the year of his death marks the end of the Baroque Era. In this class, we will explore why Bach's music was not popular in his lifetime and listen to some of the most beautiful and powerful melodies ever written. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. If you don't see a time that works with your schedule, please contact me via Outschool and include a few times (and the time zone you reside in) that you are available. I hope to see your in class soon! Mrs. Fox
