Introduction to the Cello
In this one-time course, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of learning cello. They will learn essential elements about the instrument, listen to musical examples, and do fun activities to solidify what they learned in class.
Class Experience
The class is intended for students with no prior music training and students with less than a year of music lessons. This class begins with an introduction to the cello, and the beginning steps of reading music. The students will learn the parts of the cello, and how the instrument makes sound. We will approach the basic cello technique, such as cello bow hold, posture, hand position, direction changes of bow, string crossings, finger logic, and we will explore some rhythm exercises using...
- By the end of the class, students will be able to identify the parts of the cello, as well as different bow strokes and cello techniques.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
