In this one time class, students will learn about the three main types of rocks and several different types of minerals and gemstones. They will create their own rocks out of play dough.

In this one time class, students will learn about the three main types of rocks and several different types of minerals and gemstones through a vibrant presentation, discussions, and demonstrations. They will use play dough to apply their new knowledge and create their own rocks. Students will be encouraged to participate in discussions and ask/answer questions. They are welcome to bring any rocks/gemstones they have at home for us to examine together. This is a beginner level rocks and minerals class. No prior knowledge is required in order to participate. Supply List
Play dough (at least 2 different colors.) Paper and a pencil If you do not have clay or play dough, you can draw the rocks! Optional: any rocks or gemstones they may have at home.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
