In this 6 unit self-paced class, students will learn about different aspects of weather, complete crafts and science experiments to enhance their learning, and answer quiz questions based on what they have learned.

 Week 1
Lesson 1
The Water Cycle and Clouds
This lesson will cover all the steps of the water cycle. Students will complete an evaporation observation experiment. They will learn about the 4 main types of clouds. Students will create a cloud craft.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
All About Rainbows
This lesson will begin with an overview on how rainbows are formed. Simple science experiments will be demonstrated on how to create your own rainbow. Students will learn the colors of a rainbow in order. Students will create a rainbow craft.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
All About Snow
This lesson will focus on how snow is formed, why snow looks white, and different types of precipitation. Students will then follow along to create paper snowflakes.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Natural Disasters Part 1
This lesson will cover: tornados, hurricanes, landslides, avalanches, blizzards, and droughts. Students will then play a game of "Name That Weather!" Finally, students will complete a tornado in a jar science experiment.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Natural Disasters Part 2
This lesson will cover: tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, monsoons, and floods. Students will then play a game of "Name That Weather!" Finally, students will create an edible earthquake experiment.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Thunder and Lightning
In this lesson, students will learn about how thunder and lightning are formed. Students will learn about static electricity and complete a small experiment. Then, students will complete a thunder and lightning lantern craft.
Students will learn about several different aspects of weather, complete crafts and experiments, and answer quiz questions.
I am a certified elementary education teacher. I taught science for 5 years, including a unit on weather each year.
Homework Offered
Each unit will consist of a 15 minute video that includes a craft and/or science experiment. There will also be a quiz that should take around 10 minutes.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed based on their participation and engagement in the class.

Spreadable food (peanut butter, icing, cream cheese) with a spoon to spread it
Square/rectangular crackers/cookies
Cup of water

Unit 5: 
Clear plastic cup
Black permanent marker
Either blue and yellow tissue paper and glue OR blue and yellow permanent markers
Flashlight/plastic tea candle
Cotton balls/toilet paper
Balloon
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Some of the crafts and experiments may require parental assistance.
