Class Experience

Welcome to Intro to Preschool Circle Time!
Each day we will begin class by singing a welcome song with our friends. Then, we will visit the calendar where we will discuss the days of the week, months of the year, seasons, weather and practice counting. Next, your child will practice singing the alphabet song. On Tuesdays, your child will be introduced to a new letter. I will use new props and a special alphabet animal to introduce each letter to reinforce their learning and keep them engaged. They will practice the correct pronunciation of each letter sound, practice writing both upper-case and lower-case letters, and also practice identifying objects that begin with each letter. On Thursdays, we will do a brief letter review, followed by concepts such as: colors, shapes, numbers, counting, patterns, sorting, emotions, manners, and friendship to name a few. Your child will be having so much fun singing, dancing and playing games that they won't even know they are learning!

** Your child will be encouraged to (not required to) participate in search-show-and-shares, where they will be asked to find a particular object at home and share it with their friends. This will allow them to practice their speaking skills, as well as their listening skills while other friends are sharing.

**If for some reason I have to cancel class a make up day will be offered and if you are unable to attend the make up class you will still have access to the class video for that day.**

**I like to try and keep everyone unmuted, but if there is excess background noise I may need to put your child on mute. Please teach them how to unmute, as I am not able to do that on my end.**

This class is upbeat and interactive and will have your child excited to learn! I can't wait to meet you and your child! Please message me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Teacher Whitney

Parental Guidance
Please note that your learner will have the opportunity to learn how to use scissors in this class. We will discuss scissor safety, but it is recommended that an adult be available to assist when scissors are being used. There will also be times when we use play-doh in class. Please note that play-doh may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat gluten or with Celiac disease.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! Welcome to my classroom! My name is Whitney and I was born and raised in beautiful Northern Michigan. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University and have had the opportunity to teach in a variety of settings over the course of 10 years. I love the curiosity and learning that takes place at the preschool age and have
especially loved teaching my daughter early literacy skills. I enjoy teaching the
connection between the letters of the alphabet and their sounds through songs,
finger plays and poems. Aside from homeschooling my daughter, my most recent teaching experience has been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) online to children in China for the past two years. I have enjoyed learning a new platform and meeting students from around the world. I would consider myself a lifelong learner and I hope to instill a love for learning in all of my students by creating an engaging and interactive learning environment where all of my students feel safe and encouraged to reach their highest potential.

Fun Facts: My favorite color is blue. My favorite season is Fall. My favorite hobbies include running, camping, crafting, sipping coffee, and adventuring with my two kids. I also love golden retrievers. I am so excited to be teaching on Outschool and I look forward to meeting your child in my classroom!
