Class Experience

In many ways speech writing and 5 paragraph essay writing are the same thing, when it comes to format and content. The main difference is often the length. In this class learners will learn the basics of writing both and then apply those skills to first a 5 paragraph essay and then a speech. They will be able to choose from a variety of topics and facts to use in their essay. They will also learn various writing tips to help them with their writing, and public speaking skills to help them with the presentation of their speeches. Each week they will write part of or an entire 5 paragraph essay or speech. They should send assignment to the teacher before the next week's class, they will then present in the next week's class.
Speeches will be presented in class, while they will have the option to present their essays in class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a former Home School student who has never stopped learning! I love history and telling stories verbally and through writing, and I want to share that passion with others. I believe the statement is true: “Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it.” We need to learn from the past to shape our own futures and the world in general. I believe the best way to learn about history is to learn about the people who lived through it and what they experienced and tell their stories. I love telling stories through writing and enjoy public speaking, so storytelling is a natural combination of the two.

I have 4 years of teaching experience in a variety of places from teaching/coaching drama and dance for homeschoolers in a group setting, to homeschooling two young children for a few months, to teaching English as Second Language (ESL) to college students, to teaching Arts and Crafts at a Summer Camp. I am currently a ESL teacher online with VIPKid. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Communication from Stevenson University.

I love to travel both in the US and internationally. I’ve spent time in almost every state on the East Coast and driven through the rest. I’ve visited seven different countries and lived in Asia for 17 months.
