What's included
1 live meeting
40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will begin with a discussion about why we count money and what students already know about different coins. We will talk about each of the 4 main US coins and what makes each coin unique. Students will observe their own coins as the teacher shows a variety of coins on the screen. Different hands-on activities, songs and games will be used to help students remember the names and values of each coin. Students will also practice counting a group of mixed coins within $1 using the touch dot method. As a teacher, I have found this strategy to be very helpful, especially for active kinesthetic learners. *Students should already know how to count by 5's.*
Learning Goals
Students will become more familiar with names and values of coins, including the penny, nickel, dime and quarter.
Students will gain more confidence in counting a group of mixed coins within $1.
