Students will be given extra practice material that they can choose to do on their own time if they want. This is not mandatory.
Assessment
There will be check in quizzes to see student improvement.

Class Experience

US Grade 3
This class aligns with the Virginia Standards of Learning content for 3rd Grade
SOL: 
3.6 The student will
a) determine the value of a collection of bills and coins
b) compare the value of two sets of coins or two sets of coins and bills
c) make change

What will be taught:
- How to count money using dollars and coins
- Comparing 2 sets of money. Are they equal? Is one more or less than the other?
- Learn how to make change 
- Using money in different word problems. 

Class Structure:
- We will begin class with a math question 
- We will go over the lesson (usually in google slide form however games and activities will be embedded within)
- After the lesson students will have the opportunity to practice. We will have guided practice where we do some questions together and then independent questions that students will work on by themselves before going over them as a class. This may be in the form of worksheets or games. 
- Wrap up and log off. 

Interactions: 
Each student will get the opportunity to answer or ask questions throughout the class. 

No prior knowledge is required.

Week 1: Counting Money 
- Lesson on how to count money
- Games/Worksheets/Practice on counting coins, dollars, and a mixture.

Week 2: Comparing Sets of Money 
- Review Counting Money
- Lesson on <, > , = 
- Games/Worksheets/Practice on counting sets of money and comparing them. 

Week 3: Making Change 
- Review counting money and comparing
- Lesson on how to make change
- Games/worksheets/practice on making change

Week 4: Making Change & Word Problems involving money 
- Review all previous material
- Lesson on how to solve a word problem
- Games/worksheets/practice on making change and word problems involving money

*Please note that during the summer it will be 3x a week

Google slides will be used to present material and contain worksheets and other materials the student will be using in class.
