Description
Class Experience
Learners will gain a better understanding that honey bees are important in our environment, for fruits, vegetables and nuts to grow, the body parts, classification, 3 kinds of bees in a colony and jobs, how they communicate, and a few other traits, World Bee Day is May 20th.
OPTIONAL: draw/color/paint a honey bee and label the body parts (head, thorax, abdomen, 6 legs, pollen sac on leg, mandible-mouth, 2 wings, 2 antennae, 2 eyes on side of head and 3 small eyes on top of head.
Learners will NOT need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools. "Raise hand" - Zoom offers a way for students to digitally raise their hands. Students can click the ‘Participants‘ button to expand the participants panel. At the bottom of this panel, there is a button called “raise hand.” Students can use this button to get my attention if they are muted. We mute the class because there is often times feedback from different mics and noises in the background that can make it a challenge to hear clearly. Headsets work well, but not required. A quiet background, a quiet place in home, truly helps all who are in the class to hear and is super-duper appreciated.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
