2-4 hours per week. Students will be tasked with completing a PowerPoint Presentation with a set number of slides and a defined time requirement which will be shown to the rest of the class.Assessment
Students will be given both positive reinforcement for the high points and suggestions for changes on any parts of the presentation which could be improved.Class Experience
This class will start with the very basics of how to construct a PowerPoint Presentation. Page setup, Background choice, and Font rules will all be discussed. The next class will then progress to image manipulation, slide advance, and transitions both manual and automatic. Special Effects will be shown along with sound and video insert. The final class will consist of participant PowerPoint presentations. The class will be structured as a combination of lectures, class participation, and presentations to the class by each student. My teaching style is very open and questions during the class are not only accepted but they are also encouraged. No prior knowledge is required.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, students will be able to produce and present a professional level PowerPoint Presentation for use in school or in any other setting.

Supply List
Students should have a copy of Microsoft PowerPoint, the release year doesn't matter. If PowerPoint is not owned, Google Slides may be used, however, some functionality may be different.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a Science Teacher with 24 years of experience in public schools. I have degrees in Marine Science, Natural Science, and Earth Science Education. Science is a passion that I have had since I was a boy. Learning Science should be fun,.... because SCIENCE is FUN ! I teach anything related to my degrees, such as Astronomy, Space Science, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Rocks and Minerals, Weather, Plate Tectonics, etc. with added courses on methods of data presentation such as Excel and PowerPoint. I have also taught Advanced Research Methods such as DNA Extraction, PCR, and Gel Electrophoresis. I am a huge nerd with Lord of the Rings, Marvel, Image, and D.C. Comics, and Science Fiction being my hobbies, along with reading, hiking, fishing, drawing, and model building. Having tagged sharks for 33 years, I am something of a "Shark Nerd" as well. I have taught science to students in grades 5 - 12, ran science fairs for elementary, middle, and high school students, and taught them presentation skills. I am very happy to be joining Outschool and look forward to working with students sharing the wonders of science !!!
