They will be asked to create a Microsoft Excel worksheet and apply some of the different features taught in class.Assessment
Students will be assessed based on the completion of the Microsoft Excel document they create and complete after each session.Class Experience
This is a hands-on class, meaning the instructor will present the materials and guide the students to perform the coursework. Therefore, students need to have Microsoft Excel installed on their computer before class starts. In this class, we will cover some basics and some intermediate features of using Microsoft Excel. After each class, there will be a short Microsoft Excel activity or exercise that learners will complete to enhance the learning process. The activity or exercise may be completed during the class session, if time permits. Topics covered in this class: Session 1: Basic Microsoft Excel terminology Starting with Microsoft Excel from creating to printing the workbook/worksheet Deleting, inserting, renaming, and coloring worksheet tabs Text and numbers Working with cells to select/copy/cut/paste/format painter/undo/redo/find/replace Working with font features and font effects Orientation, wrap text, merge and center Clear Features (all, content, format) Alignment (horizontal and vertical) Insert and delete cells Working with width and height Formatting cells (date/time, currency, %, commas, decimals, etc.) Sheet Options -- gridlines and headings Session 2: Basic functions Formulas Show formulas Summation Autofill sequentially and in series Cell borders Insert symbols, equations, hyperlinks, textbox, Wordart Insert a picture, icon, shape, 3D model, SmartArt, Screenshot Session 3: Page layout -- Orientation, Background, Print Area Print features (gridlines, headings) Headers and footers Margins Cell Styles Sort and Filter (ascending and descending) Working with charts (recommended, chart types, change chart types, move chart) More chart features (chart elements, change colors, chart styles, switch row/column) Working with data -- flash fill
