Mad Libs are a fun way to learn parts of speech. Mad Libs is a company that has created several fill in the blank stories in which the writer may fill in nouns, adjectives, adverbs and so on before reading the story. It can be funny or follow the theme but it always turns out to be a fun story! Each week we will meet and discuss the parts of speech as we fill out our Mad Lib of the week students will have a parts of speech map to look at to help guide them in choosing what to fill in the blanks and they will be encouraged to come up with their own words as well. First students will fill in the words without seeing the puzzle then we will read it with their words plugged in. Each week will be a different theme. 1/8- How to make an ice cream sundae 1/15- Comic book Hero 1/22-Shopping for sneakers 1/29- at the candy store

Students will improve their knowledge of parts of speech in a fun and engaging environment.

Hello! I am Ms. Ashby and I teach kindergarten reading and writing skills here on outschool as well as in a brick and mortar classroom during the school year.
I have a very diverse teaching background. Since graduating with my Bachelors in Elementary Educationand minor in reading education I have taught 2nd grade, pre-school, 4th grade, and Kindergarten as the primary teacher. I have also had long term substitute positions in 1st and 2nd grade. I have a passion for hands on learning and whole brain teaching. My goal as a teacher is to help students reach their goals, personal and academic, by fostering a love of learning and giving them a space to be curious and learn through experiences.
A little something about me: my list of hobbies is ever growing as I love learning new things and consider myself to be crafty. I am currently into wood working and embroidery. I live at the beach with my Dogs Marlin and Mabel and in our free time in the spring and summer months we enjoy going out on the water fishing or enjoying the company of others.Reviews
